Definition of transporte multimodal

 

Transporte Multimodal - É a integração dos serviços de mais de um modo de transporte, entre os diversos modais. Exemplo: rodo-ferroviário, rodo-aéreo, ferro-hidroviário, hidro-aéreo etc. Trata-se de um conceito institucional que envolve a movimentação de bens por dois ou mais modais de transporte, sob um único conhecimento de transporte, o qual é emitido por um operador de transporte multimodal - OTM. O OTM deve assumir total responsabilidade pela operação, desde a origem até o destino, como um transportador principal e não como um agente.
